Sunday 08
march 22, 2026
Happy Sunday friends. Its 80 degrees outside. My windows are open. I’ve cleaned up my garden beds. I’m in the middle of the perfect Sunday of reading, watching Gilded Age, folding laundry, and waiting to go on a sweet little walk in the evening. I mean really, it’s been the perfect day. We made homemade pizzas for lunch with the most perfect, gigantic salad.
The only thing I’m waiting for is the first bear sighting here in Asheville.
Chaitra Navratri started just a few days ago, and it’s been great to get back into a daily practice. Of course, not coincidentally, it started around the same time as the Spring Equinox, and with the warm and sunny weather, it feels like for the first time in a long time, everything is conspiring in a forward movement.
As the weather gets warmer, it’s been really nice to start shedding the thick layers of the winter. Isn’t it so incredible how naturally our tendencies tend to change from season to season. Of course, ayurvedically, there is no rush to take on the transition. We must ease into it slowly and steadily.
In my morning reflection time specifically for Navratri, I’ve been reading some commentary on the Devi Mahatmiya. The text speaks about how the Goddess is the beginning of everything, beginning of time, the reason for all. What a perfect time for this reflection as we are in the beginning of a new cycle. Bringing forth all of the latent energy up and out into the surface. But what to do with all of it? This newfound energy (I guess not new per se, but new for the time of the year).
Shall I start a new hobby? Plan all of the gardens for the season? Read a list of books? Or maybe just simply take time to be in the moment. There is a little bit of whimsy in going with the flow, just floating. Maybe this is the lesson to take in for this upcoming season.
This week feels especially nice to just roll with Mother Nature. She’s peeking out little bits at a time…extending her days and shortening her nights. She’s gently willing us all through to awaken from our deep slumber. She’s asking us too to spend a little more time outside, finding a solace in her warmth.
I’m looking forward to slow sips of tea on the patio, long walks in the evening, and just overall basking in the sun. We’re about to be about half way through Navratri so, I’m just going to be spending my time trying to get caught up in this energy.
The last thing I will say on my Sunday note is that I hope you don’t go fast. I hope you go really slow. I hope you savor each and every moment of this season to come out of this winter (which was REALLY intense, let’s be honest!), and allow yourself to just be with what she’s asking of us.
Slow. Soft. Gentle. These are my words for the season. I encourage you to find some of your own.
Here’s to a beautiful week.
xx, n
